About this product

Across Kansas, a 9mm that rides in a truck console all week and goes to the range on Saturday needs to be simple and tough. CZ's new DUTY 4.0 fits that life. It is a striker-fired 9x19mm with a fiberglass-reinforced polymer frame and a serialized internal chassis, so the grip frame is a modular part. The barrel is 4 inches and not threaded, the sights are fixed, and the slide takes a red dot by direct mount.

Kansas shooters who want a belt gun will lean toward the C compact: 15+1 rounds, 17+1 with the extended base plate, 770 g and 135 mm tall. Those who want a full grip for the range will prefer the F full-size: 17+1, 19+1 extended, 780 g and 143 mm tall. Either one measures 188 mm long by 33 mm wide. Trigger pull is about 5.6 lbs, reset 4 mm. Order the MS version if you want a manual thumb safety added to the three internal safeties. MSRP is $729.

The C is the compact frame. It stands 135 mm (5.3 in) tall, weighs 770 g (27.2 oz) with an empty magazine and carries 15+1 rounds of 9mm, or 17+1 once the extended base plate is fitted. Short enough to hide under a shirt, long enough to get every finger on the grip.

Three things define the DUTY 4.0. First, a registered modular chassis: the registered part is inside, the grip module around it is modular. Second, the trigger, a striker SFDA rated at 25 ± 4 N (5.6 ± 0.9 lbs), 4 mm (0.16 in) reset, 9 ± 1 mm (0.4 ± 0.04 in) travel, which is short and repeatable for a service pistol. Third, a direct-mount optics-ready slide, shown by CZ with Holosun, Aimpoint and Shield dots fitted, so a optic sits low without a stack of plates.

The MS model carries a frame-mounted manual safety on top of the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger-bar safety. Everything else, chassis, trigger, slide and optics cut, is the same as the version without the lever.

Who is it for: daily carry, a bedside gun that also rides along, and new shooters who want one pistol for everything. If you already shoot a P-10, the DUTY is the next step in the same family, with a new chassis and the optics done right.

Your DUTY 4.0 ships to the Kansas FFL dealer you choose at checkout, or to a dealer in another state if you live elsewhere. That dealer does the transfer paperwork and applies the rules of that state at pickup. We do not ship complete pistols to a home address. Choose your dealer before ordering so the pistol has a clear destination.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have the DUTY 4.0 sent to a dealer outside Kansas?
Yes. Pick any FFL dealer in your state at checkout and the pistol ships there. The dealer applies that state's rules at pickup.
Is the DUTY 4.0 barrel threaded for a suppressor?
No. The 4-inch barrel on both the C and F models is not threaded.
What does MS mean on the CZ DUTY 4.0 C MS?
Manual safety. It adds a thumb lever to the firing pin block, trigger safety and trigger bar safety that every DUTY has.
Does the manual safety change the trigger?
No. CZ rates the trigger the same on both versions: 5.6 pounds with a 4 mm reset.
